Desserts
Yum! Let Ben and Jerry enlighten you on their history and ice cream in general. Churning tips and tricks, plus recipes for many of your Ben & Jerry favorites - - plus many you won't find in stores. (Yep, they tell you how to make "Cherry Garcia" too!)

Very focussed recipes from Wolfgang Puck's pastry chef, Mary Bergin. This is a followup to her "Spago Desserts" -- and a very specialized follow-up, too. Ice creams, souffle's, tarts, brownies, candies -- all with one common theme ... CHOCOLATE!

General
It's a classic and it's constantly updated (I believe it's in the 9th edition right now). This is one of the best general cookbooks you can find. Lots of basic information, plus great and easy recipes. I gave one to each of my sons when they started off in their own apartments. If you can only have one cookbook, this is the one you want.

Novelty Specialty
Finally, you no longer have to hear about Wolfe and Fritz's gourmet meals -- you can enjoy preparing them! Recipes for many of the special dishes Archie's told you about -- including my (and his) favorite, Griddle Cakes! While this may be a novelty cookbook, it's also a good special-purpose cookbook. While there are special gourmetish recipes ("Scrambled Eggs? let me know 45 minutes before you're ready."), there are also loads of useful and usable eats. Also includes special items from Rusterman's Restaurant, too!

The title pretty much says it. The cookbook's loaded with recipes for items you'd normally buy at the store. I generally use it for the jams, jelly's, and syrups, but the cookbook also covers items like breads (bagels!), meats, condiments, pickles, preservers, yogurt, candies, and much more. Describes how to can and preserve and also talks about tools involved.

Regional
Cajun cooking at its best from the Junior league of Lafayette. I'm from South Louisiana and this is the absolute best cookbook if you're interested in learning to cook cajun (not creole -- there's a big difference!) I'm on about my fourth copy and it's still my most dogeared cookbook on my rack. Gumbos, roux, sauce piquante, couch-couch, ... it's all here!
